Official statement from PGCBGC regarding COVID 19

Greetings All,

The Prince George's County Boys and Girls Club (PGCBGC) continues to work closely with our partner organizations and to monitor local and federal government officials regarding the recent outbreak of COVID 19 "Novel Coronavirus" in the Prince Georges County area. We are closely monitoring all Maryland Health Department advisories and adhering to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines as it relates to the pandemic. While the numbers of those affected in our region remains relatively low. The PGCBGC is looking at all methods to mitigate transmission and possible exposure to our great student athletes, their parents, our volunteer coaches/administrators and other associated personnel. After careful consideration and taking a proactive approach, the PGCBGC has decided to suspend all PGCBGC related activities and events indefinitely, this includes the upcoming 2020 PGCBGC Basketball Playoffs scheduled for (3/14, 3/15, and 3/21), all PGCBGC practices and the 2020 Spring sports activities. We hope to resume these activities as soon as positive steps have been confirmed to move forward and it becomes reasonably safe for all of our involved parties. .

More information regarding COVID-19.

COVID-19 is believed to be spread mainly from person-to-person, between people who are in close contact with one another and through contact with respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The Coronavirus is characterized by fever (above 100 degrees), cough and shortness of breath.

The Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health authorities are still focusing great attention on prevention methods such as: hand washing; covering your nose and mouth when sneezing/coughing; social distancing; and staying home when sick. Therefore, if you or your child is sick, please stay home and limit contact with others.

We strongly encourage you to check out the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as the Maryland Department of Health websites for more information regarding the Coronavirus Disease:
